Tequila will be the third 2-Stage rocket in the R2SD program. It features a 54mm sustainer and a 98mm booster with a typical transition section to replicate the change in diameter in the high performance rockets, like Cactus Bloom. It aims to drag separate, ignite the sustainer, and recover successfully.
Agave was the second 2-Stage rocket based off of the team's low cost L1 Certification kit to enable rapid iterations. It featured a coupler style transition section intented to drag separate. While it did not drag separate in flight, the sustainer motor lit (after some delay) with an updated initiator, hot staging the vehicle. Due to the ignition delay, the rocket had tipped to a larger angle and the sustainer was not recovered.
Jerboa was a 2-Stage rocket based off of the team's low cost L1 Certification kit to enable rapid iterations. It featured a large 3D Printed transition section that slotted with the sustainer fins and was intended to induce drag separation. However, the fin slotting in the transition was tight, so the vehicle did not drag separate in flight. Additionally, the sustainer e-match did not light the sustainer motor.
